Yes it's necessary to stay fly like canaries

Alrightie I'm gonna honestly do my best to keep up with this blog. As mentioned before I feel a tad narcissistic constantly taking photos of my outfits, but I'd like to see how it develops and changes throughout the year. There's no such thing as a static staple style; if you think about it something in your wardrobe will eventually change- be it a colour, silhouette, texture etc.

So here's to the new year and towards more consistency for whoever actually follows this "look at my style" blog of mine.

And voila today's outfit via iPhone.
Simple, comfy, chill = great for a jam packed day of two 3 hour classes, and a longer than usual commute downtown (skytrain stopped running and I, alongside various strangers, was stuck in it for 20 minutes while they tried fixing the door. Oh geez) to go visit a new friend.
I need to write more that was a huge run on..*.face palm*
wearing: forest green knitted headband (does a good job at keeping my ears warm) -f21, knit sweater-joe (yes from the superstore), half faux leather leggings- thrifted (another score),  army jacket- aritzia, military stomping boots- gift from my man, faux-fur bag- Aldo

Lynn Valley Loveliness

Went on a lovely picnic date to LynnValleyCreek with my handsome man for our anniversary date :) it was grand and relaxing. the sun was finally shinning bright. i sunbathed for quite a bit. we tried crossing the creek to head to our usual spot - where we spent most of our days last year as friends who obviously liked eachother without a title of "couple", felt nice to go back as a couple :) all in all it was a great day

WEARING: silk (reversable tank) & metal cowboy-like-detailed belt - Thrifted, burnt orangish/coral flowy short- H&M, favourite faux fur & leather bag-ALDO, metal gladiator sandals some store in California for 12 bucks :)
and several leather bracelets bought in Cali and Costa rica

And now for some photos of the date :) off to bed now lovelies.

you make my heart pound

wearing: floral bandeau & army green tank/vest- garage, gold leave/multi chain necklace- aldo? (it was a gift from my bff), dark wash skinnies- h&m, black sandals- wet seal
so these are the only nice shoes i can wear at the moment due to the unwanted blisters i have on my feet- now i know why i stopped wearing flats. so the story goes like this: i went to the shoe warehouse about a year ago and found this beautiful pair of michael kors red flats for a ridiculous amount i couldn't say no. i wore them a couple times and they made my feet bleed once...then get blisters the next so i left them in my closet. i'd glance at them every day trying to find something to wear them with then i never could for some reason. anywho... i decided to wear them a couple days ago and couldn't walk after a while cause they killed so much. why must they be so painful? BUT wait! my manager gave me the greatest idea to put this material that's like a felt/soft fabric so they'd be comfortable and wouldn't give me disgusting blisters. so i shall try that out, and maybe you'll see them in my posts more?

Also, today a very lovely and close friend of mine left to Bradford, England where she will be living for 2 years. it was a very bittersweet moment at the airport, but i can not wait to hear all her stories. i shall write about this all in my other blog though- since i have quite a lot to say :)
I MISS YOU MAMA TISH & LOVE YOU MAD DEEP DARK OCEAN ABYSS ♥

oh oh i want some more, oh oh what are you waitin' for?

comfy gear for an early morning of heading to the bank & browsing (which turned into shopping....)

wearing: zipper pocket tee- garage, army green linen shorts- aero, sandals-costa rica, aviators- kiosk in the mall.

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE FAMILY:
black tee with cut off & tied back and blue (somewhat of an acid was feel) - coastal ridders
crocodile ring- aldo

oh and yesterday i got myself these colours to add to my nail polish collection (i've become somewhat of an addict). they were only 2 bucks each!
clockwise from R: it's not as pink in the photo more of a pinkish/brown, gold and sparkly (looks good alone or over top of the pinkish/brown one), below is one i wish showed up like it does in the bottle but it decieved me and is just clear BUT it looks good over top of a purple/black (my sis tested it out for me). and last is this dark brown that almost looks black and i'm in love with it. it's on my fingers at the moment :)

just another ordinary day

favourite sneakers. white leather keds- value village baaaby :)
secret, magic erasers are indeed magical! they cleaned the blue dye from my super dark wash skinnies right off of my precious white sneakers. so any white leather stained by dye, rub a little bit of magic eraser and your good to go people.
i swear i do own coloured clothing, my closet doesn't just consist of greys, whites, and blacks. for serious! next time i wear something colourful and printed i'll be sure to snap a shot. and that is a promise friends :)

just plain old clothing for another ordinary work day at aero...

wearing: grey t-aeropostale, same ae black skinnies ( i also own a whole wack load of jeans beside these bad boys), flower belt- ae, rings, braclet, bag- costa rica

a hippie girl one day a rock chick the next.

"i was born to rock. learned to walk in flip flops. And i bought my clothes at the local thrift shop. I wouldn't be late if i looked at the clock, but id rather spend time than by a wrist watch. zip-lock keep it fresh. red hot chili pep. dread lock rocksta."

went long boarding yet again today, gotta practice in order to get better right? well i long-boarded for a bit then spent most of the time chillin' under a tree eating drumsticks and listening to shwayze, or laying on the longboard a top the hill. it's summer, so i'm just gonna soak up all those rays :)

wearing: crocheted top-thrifted, denim jeans- aero, bracelets-costa rica.

Afro-dite

After a long day (was up at 6am-rare for me since i haven't been in school for a year) i came home from a very amusing day and changed into the comfy-ist gear i own. The afro-ish bun is due to the photoshoot i had done early that day for a friend, never have i seen so much volume in my hair, no extensions added whatsover that is all mine. i've always wanted to rock out a fro and my dream came true yesterday :) now i have to go see if i can wash this out, although part of me doesn't want to. Oh and i believe i will receive the photos from the shoot in a couple of weeks, the outfits aren't spectacular as i was a hair model- if only i brought camera to take shots of the other work being done. it was ridiculous, i felt as if i were backstage getting ready for a runway. there were giant platinum blond lips placed on top of heads, along with yellow/white bouquets of hair, a haunted tree, and some crazy bun bigger than the models head with extensions about as long as her own hair draping down with braids falling atop her head- it was amazing.

& the tired expression is due to the long day, so simply ignore it.

wearing: grey mens sweater-thrifted, faux leather/shinny legings- off the wall, nude boot sandals- costa rica, black studded leather bag-aldo, scarf- h&m

top it off

Baaaack, well I have been for almost a month now :S my bad on not posting all this time. It's just every time I have an outfit I'd very much like to post I can't find the camera or realize I never snapped it before I got scrubbed out. Terribleness I know, and I apologize- I will get better at this just you wait. Anywho the trip was great, check out my other blog www.gabdez.blogspot.com (curbside propet) for all the details- still have yet to post about them but check it out in a couple of days hah. So here's to my first post since ages ago. Yes it's already somewhat old and being done pretty much all over the world (Europe/Asia/North America) but it's the BUN. I loved it then, love it now, will always love it. Especially since it's so versatile, wear it waaay up on your head, low at bottom, in a chignon on the side, quick and messy, with ribbons or bows, braids, super puffy or neat like a ballerina. I simply love them, they're simple- yet achieving the perfect bun when you want to isn't at all easy. Somedays I get the perfect one when I wake up and tie it up before washing my face, then I look in the mirror and  say "okay, today's a bun day" cause I know for a fact if I let it down I can't get it back the same. So cheers to buns, fresh and ready to go for the summer, now I think I'll go and try to add the braid in the first photo, if not looks like my sister will have to do my hair some day soon :)

Wednesday, February 3

just some real nice photographs i found. i love the colour and feel, how it seems like it was taken in the 60's or early 70's. love it. the colours the simpleness and especially that white lace dress. so i've had no time whatsover to take photos thanks to job searching and all. but now with my portfolio out of the way i might be able to squeeze some time in. i need some good stuff for the trip to costa rica like luggage to start with heh...oh my. 46 days to go!

beautiful movement

these photos simply glamorize the 60's. makes me wish i lived during that time, but then again now fashion has so much more freedom, now style is fashionable if worn with the right attitude. the fashion police don't have so much control on what's in and what's out. it's every day people who are now inspiring designers, who would have ever though? but back to these simple and beautiful shots. everything flawless, from the sparkley sheer tights, to the twisted long ponytail to the movement of the models. they make taking a jumping picture seem to effortless, although i know it for sure is not. i honestly have to learn how to master a jumping shot without having my mouth opened in a super cheezy highschool musical type smile. i'll practice that later.
